Guelph, Ontario, January 22, 2014 — Snyder Architects joined the Elliot Community in celebration of their 10 year anniversary.

Firm Principal, Anil Gokarn, joined the Elliot Community, honouring 10 years of excellence in seniors’ care.  A decade ago, Snyder Architects (formerly Mekinda Snyder Architects) was engaged by the Elliott Home to design the ‘continuum of care’ community with seniors’ rental apartments, a life lease building, retirement suites, and a long term care home. A community centre was incorporated into the design to meet local community needs.

The community included 85 LTC new beds and 60 units for semi- independent seniors in a four-storey building, including underground parking. The ground floor included common services and amenities for the residents use: kitchen, café and living rooms.

The project was undertaken in two phases in order to manage the demolition and new construction effectively with the least possible disruption to the occupants. Extensive landscaped areas were designed around the building to provide seasonal interest and continuous blooming periods for perennials, ground covers and shrubs.
