This project for the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) involved a renovation of and addition to the existing St Mark CES, located in Brant Hills. The two-storey addition includes a three-room Child Care, an EarlyON Centre, and six classrooms with associated ancillary spaces, while the renovation component includes a new entrance atrium and barrier-free upgrades.

An interesting challenge of this project was the existing site topography. The steepness of the site resulted in the main parking area being located much higher than the main floor of the existing building. We used this challenging topography to our advantage by locating the Child Care on the second floor of the new addition and extending the existing parking area to match the Child Care floor elevation such that the Child Care entrance is at grade with direct access to its natural outdoor play area.
