The Elliott Home is part of a ‘continuum of care’ community with seniors’ rental apartments, a life lease building, retirement suites, and a long term care facility which was recently replaced. The project included 85 LTC new beds and 60 units for semi- independent seniors in a four-storey, including underground parking. The ground floor includes common services and amenities for the residents use: kitchen, café and living rooms.
The project was undertaken in two phases in order to manage the demolition and new construction effectively with the least possible disruption to the occupants. Extensive landscaped areas were designed around the building to provide seasonal interest and continuous blooming periods for perennials, groundcovers and shrubs. A community centre was incorporated into the design to meet the local resident needs.
This project was started under the firm’s former name of Mekinda Snyder Partnership.
