The Light Korean Presbyterian Church is a community-conscious place of worship accommodating 2,000 parishioners in the main space with an adjacent 1,773-seat sanctuary. Built on previously vacant land the project also includes a facility with an education wing; a 5,260 square foot fellowship hall with a full commercial kitchen; a 6,650 square foot gymnasium with basketball nets; floor sockets for various sports nets; and a 248-seat chapel. The main sanctuary building is defined by a glass curtain wall and corrugated metal, while the Community building is clad in brick masonry.
The project required complex approvals including the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority’s approval as well as the Greater Toronto Airports Authority’s approval for height and noise transmission factors. Municipal access from Derry Road also had to be widened with a road widening approval from the Region of Peel.
The Light Korean Presbyterian Church was completed by our predecessor firm, Mekinda Snyder Partnership.
